Deep Water Culture Hydroponic Bubbler Bucket Kit: Great for Newbies AND Experienced Growers

There are many different forms of hydroponic growing.

After all, the term ‘hydroponic’ simply means growing without soil. And there are lots of different ways of doing that.

Some hydroponic systems replace soil with an inert medium such as perlite or hydroton. In these systems, the roots grow in medium just as they would grow in soil, with all the nutrients delivered through the nutrient solution.

But other systems are designed to allow the plant roots to grow directly in the nutrient solution. And that’s how the Deep Water kit works.

In this system, the plant roots grow down into the 5-gallon nutrient reservoir, where they’re constantly bathed by nutrient-rich, oxygenated water.

Deep Water Culture Hydroponic Bubbler Bucket Kit: Great for Newbies AND Experienced GrowersThe Deep Water system offers far more growing capacity than many competing systems.

A 4-Bucket System

Unlike many hydroponic systems in the general price range of the Deep Water system, you’re provided with 4 growing stations instead of just one. And that gives you lots of flexibility, and lots of potential.

So you could grow 4 times the quantity of a single crop. You could grow 4 different crops. Or any balance in between.

But no matter how you take advantage of that flexibility, it’s an easy-to-manage system. In some ways, in fact, it’s really no more difficult to manage than a single bucket system.

Easy Expandability

Although the Deep Water system offers more growing stations than most systems in its price range, it can also be easily expanded.

So you might start with a basic beginner’s system, and end up with a hydroponic mini-farm!

Pros and Cons

All products have their good points and not-so-good points, and the Deep Water system is no exception. Here are some of the highs and potential lows to consider if you’re thinking about trying this product.

·        Value. The Deep Water system offers lots of growing space for the price – up to 4 times the growing stations of many competitively priced systems.

·        Flexibility. Unlike some kits, the Deep Water system doesn’t lock you into a monoculture. You can grow a number of different crops at once.

·        Thoughtful Design. Tubing is plumbed through the buckets instead of through the lids. This is a thoughtful design perk that makes managing the system much easier (unlike systems that plumb the tubing through the lids, making plant removal and bucket cleaning far more difficult).

·        You’ll Need to Buy a Few Extras. This kit doesn’t provide everything you’ll need to get started. You’ll also have to buy nutrients, a growing medium, and a pH test kit (and seeds, of course).
